Changing Projector Lamp

Images from the projector look darker and have the effect of color cast? A strong suspicion that your projector lamp is running out of useful life.

Projector lamp has a lifetime of 2500-3000 hours before its intensity decreased 50%. If you suspect the poor quality of the image caused by the weakening light, check usage counter hours. If you do light it was time to retire, replace with new lamp manufacturer recommended. Prices range from U.S. $ 200-350. To be more certain, measure its flux value.

Measuring the intensity of the projector

To measure, use a lux meter that can be purchased at electronics stores. Set the projector to fully display the projected area exposed to light at full zoom. Make sure the lights shine with maximum performance. So, switch off energy-saving facilities and set the brightness level at 100%.A white test image you can make yourself with the Windows Paint program. Darkening the room and with a lux meter measures the intensity of the nine point spread evenly on the screen. Take the average value and multiply by the projected area (width x height in m2).The result is the intensity of the projector in the lumen (lm). Compare this with the standard value.

The difference was 100 lm can be tolerated. If the value is less than half, that means it’s time the projector lamp is replaced. LCD projector projected images must be examined carefully. If there are lumps stain colors, means a small panel LCD worn. In such cases, replacement projector lamp is useless. You’ll have to buy a new device.

ATTENTION! If the lamp “off” do not immediately replace it with a new lamp. Chances are there any other components damaged. Changing the new lights will also directly damage the lamp. Advised to consult with the service center of the projector manufacturers concerned.
