Pico Projector in iPhone 5? Don’t Count On It

apple-logoSpeculating on future Apple gear is always fun, and Friday’s rumor is intriguing (if highly unlikely). A series of Friday blogospheric musings are pondering whether Apple might add a pico projector to the next-generation iPhone (a.k.a. iPhone 5).

A pico projector, also known as pocket or handheld projector, projects images onto a nearby surface, such as a wall or desktop. It’s a developing  technology, one that may play a major role in future smartphones, although today it’s strictly the stuff of blue-sky demos. (more…)

The word Pico is a Spanish term that technically means “one trillionth” but by many it is also define as very small and it has recently emerged as a standard term used by the projector industry to describe very small projectors . As such, Pico Projectors are tiny handheld projectors that are significantly smaller than the traditional table top projectors that we have come to expect .

3M Announces Shoot’n Share Camera Projector Coming Soon

3M-shotnshareA few days ago 3M unveiled two new projectors and also hinted towards their first ever digital camcorder projector called the Shoot ‘n Share. Today, the company unveiled the device in its own official press release. The Shoot ‘n Share is a digital projector that that can display 15 ANSI lumens and a VGA (640 x 480) resolution. (more…)

Samsung W7900, The Cellular Phone Projector

samsung-w7900Samsung introduced the new gadget at the time of Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas that is the  Samsung W7900 Cellular Phone.   W7900 for folks living in Korea, also known as the the Samsung I7410 (for those in the European market) as the latest collaboration between Samsung Electronics and Texas Instruments has led to one of the more impressive projector phones in the market to date. The W7900 is equipped with the Texas Instruments DLP Pico Chipset that helps provide a providing “big picture” viewing experience when you’re on-the-go.
